Mélomane Monday: Let’s Play House
This week I was inspired by this quote: “When u are in touch with your authentic self, life flows easily, u meet challenges with courage & prosper in ways u never thought u could.” As my DJ career has grown immensely in the past 2 months, I’ve come to realize the importance of being genuine and staying true to who I am. As most of us know, life is an unexpected adventure every single day and in order to make sense of that journey and to grow, love, and be happy – you must let go and just be yourself. I wanted to say thank you again to my friends, family, and fans that have fully supported me and my DJ’ing by coming to all my events. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
Here we go! It was another insanely busy but EXTREMELY fun weekend for me! Here’s the recap…
Thursday night I DJ’d the Bosphorus Nights 1st Summer Black and White Party! I have to start out by saying this was probably the most professionally organized and executed event I have ever DJ’d for. The party was held at Les Deux nightclub in Hollywood, CA. I had the honor of being filmed and interviewed for Turkish tv (TRT) as well! I spoke about my DJ career, my preparation for parties, and what type of music I would be playing that night. I was also filmed DJ’ing throughout the night, which was a little intimidating at first, but turned out to be a lot of fun (especially as they filmed me dancing to one of my favorite songs)! I believe around 200 people attended the club Thursday night and let me tell you – these people knew how to party AND how to dance! As the crowd was very happy about the Lakers becoming National Champions, they were even happier when I played LMFAO’s Shots – the Laker version! I ended up turning off my music a little past 2am….hello exhaustion! … it was worth it though. Thank you to Baris Avsar for organizing an outstanding event that will hopefully continue in the very near future!
**For more photos from the event please visit my FAN PAGE and photos are entitled “BLACK AND WHITE PARTY.” For videos from the event, please visit my YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
Saturday I DJ’d my sister’s 23rd Birthday Pool Party at our home in Beverly Hills. SO.MUCH.FUN! Where do I begin… well after eating a delicious feast of Mexican food (tamales, tacos, & more) – the next stop was THE OPEN BAR. With an excessive abundance of all different types of alcohol (predominantly tequila), the bar was constantly packed with people ordering drinks and shots! (The drinks were also creatively named… for example – a margarita was called the NO WAY JOSE) Down by the pool were cocktail tables with beautiful centerpieces… and of course…. to the side of the pool was THE DJ BOOTH! Luckily because this party was my sister’s and we have just about the exact same taste in music, the playlist was NOT a problem and literally a dream come true (or should I say a house music dream?). Overall, minus being thrown into the pool a grand 3 times, I had a lot of fun with family and friends!
Songs for today:
Kelis – 4th of July (Calvin Harris Remix)
Olav Basoski & Redroche ft. Amanda Wilson – Not Over You (Andy Callister Mix)
Travie McCoy – Billionaire (Nappy Boy Remix) (Feat. T Pain & Gucci Mane)
3OH!3 feat. Ke$ha – My first Kiss (Chuckie Remix)
**Also stay tuned, this is the week of the Electric Daisy Carnival which I will be attending on Friday! There will be a pre-EDC post with all the featured artists at the festival and a post-EDC blog entry recapping my experience on Friday (you’re going to get photos AND live videos)!
Mélomane Monday: Dance with D’Lish
It was another D’Lish-ous weekend! I DJ’d a private birthday party on Saturday night in Beverly Hills that was a lot of fun. With a “pink” theme that included pink martini glasses, pink candles, & pink balloons, my pink computer case & laptop stand fit in perfectly.
Taking place in the backyard of the birthday girl’s house, the party was most definitely a hit for the crowd that included about 100 guests – especially the Casino games (because really, who doesn’t like to gamble)? I literally played everything that night: Jay-Z, Bitter:sweet, Lady Gaga, David Guetta, BEP, Kaskade, Usher, La Roux, Marina & the Diamonds, & more.
To see more photos from the party please visit my FACEBOOK FAN PAGE
And guess what? It will be a D’lish-ous week as well! This coming Thursday the 17th I will be DJ’ing for the first time at the hotspot club Les Deux in Hollywood! As someone who doesn’t traditionally DJ at clubs (more so private parties & events), I am beyond excited and so happy that I’ve been given this opportunity. I’ve been preparing an extensive and ecclectic playlist for the past week and am READY TO ROCK!

Me, Myself & I

Ok – my female vocalists are BACK yet again (this was by accident)! Don’t ask me why, but the songs for today speak of well.. independence, empowerment, and most importantly – having fun. I’d like to call these tracks more of “feel good” songs that act as a kind of inspiration for your everyday life.
For those of you that know, I always love to DJ the other Static Revenger/Richard Vission song – I like that. Well here’s the newest one! Static Revenger feat. Luciana – Skin I’m In (Mind Electric Slammer Remix) This is who I am and all that I need.
With a little latin flair to it, this one is perfect for summer! Jason Rivas – To Start Again (Jason Rivas Back From Ibiza Vocal Mix) Bring it back and start again. Work it out that only love remains.
My affinity for John Dahlback is definitely clear in the abundant amount of songs I have of his. This remix is another one of his “masterpieces” shall I say. D-Malice ft. Rebecca Knight – Poison (John Dahlback Remix) Like poison you take hold of me…
I remember when this song first came out (it was right before I saw him live). It was a hit then and it’s still a hit. Each of these remixes is different, so listen to both! Tiesto ft. Tegan & Sara – Feel it In My Bones (Marcus Schossow Remix) OR (Paul Webster Remix) I feel you in my bones, you’re knocking at my window, you’re slowly letting me go, and i know this feeling oh so, I feel you in my bones.
This progressive track is very smooth all the way through & I definitely love the singer’s voice. Check out the Zoo Brazil and Paolo Mojo remixes also. Mason – You are Not Alone (Glenn Morrison Remix). I used to think that my life had to mean something but it turned out, I had to find out the hard way…create my own meaning.
Another remix off of Tiesto’s Kaleidoscope album. This one is a little more progressive. Tiesto ft. Nelly Furtado – Who Wants to Be Alone (Andy Duguid Remix) Don’t take me home till the sun comes up.
To be honest, I wasn’t loving this song very much when I first heard it. Over time, it definitely grew on me. Let it grow on you too! Kelly Rowland – Commander (Original) OR (David Guetta’s Fuck Me I’m Famous Remix) From here on out I’ll be your commander, No fear no doubt, I’ll provide the answer
A D’Lishous Weekend
What.a.weekend!!!! As most of you know, I was extremely busy this past weekend DJ’ing 2 events (Saturday & Sunday). I’ll give you a mini recap of the events, as well as include some pictures for your viewing pleasure 🙂 As I’ve said many times before, this blog is not only a way for me to share my music with you (my fans), but also a place for me to talk about my many experiences DJ’ing in Los Angeles!
Saturday May 22 I DJ’d a Fresh Prince of Bel Air party in the hills hosted by my friend Jason Ramin. What a party! It definitely brought back memories of the 90’s with MC Hammer outfits all the way to Carlton look alikes from the tv show (oh & of course the Fruit by the Foot on each of the tables)! The freezing 50 degree weather definitely did not stop this crowd from dancing until 2:30 in the morning! The great part of the night for me was that I was able to play 90’s music, hip-hop, and of course my favorite… house. Going from MC Hammer Can’t Touch This to David Guetta, LMFAO, Fergie – Gettin’ Over back to Jump On It was a very easy crowd pleaser! To my surprise I received a ton of requests for more house…Deadmau5, Laidback Luke, etc., which surprised me! (I had some die hard house lovers). I think the hit of the night was the Fresh Prince of Bel Air remix I played oh and of course Tom Jones – It’s Not Unusual. Overall, the night was a fabulous success… yes I can say that because I danced the ENTIRE time behind the DJ booth and in front of it!
Sunday May 23, I DJ’d the Summer Nights Dinner Cruise fundraiser event in Newport Beach. What a beautiful yacht! With an intimate crowd, the night started off extremely relaxing. I played a lot of my lounge music during dinner and cocktails. As the night started to spruce up, I got the crowd dancing with… of course… salsa music. (because seriously, if that doesn’t get you up, nothing will). Mr. Elvis Crespo’s Suavamente, Carlos Vives’ Fruta Fresca, & the one and only Celia Cruz’s La Vida Es Un Carnaval were definitely the hits of the evening. Even though it was windy and pretty chilly on board, (not much of a “summer” experience) the beautiful ocean & sunset views paired with the music definitely was a Sunday Funday to be had!
**I wanted to thank my wonderful sister Deniz for accompanying me to all my events (not just this weekend) & helping me set up/break down all my equipment! She is truly an aSISta’lish 🙂 Thank you!

Mélomane Monday: Trancendance
I have to say I was a little inspired by Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, & Ferry Corsten’s podcasts this week and last week. I’m not one to intently listen/follow trance (it’s a little too much for me personally), but songs that aren’t too hardcore do spark my interest! Recently, I’ve witnessed a transformation within the dance music genre. It is becoming more commonplace for DJ’s & producers to now create songs that fuse dance sub-genres together. From Kaskade & Morgan Page to Tiesto… these artists’ new albums have cleverly combined house, progressive, & even trance. While these sub-genres still exist in their purest form, as a DJ & music lover, it is refreshing to be able to listen to a little of everything wrapped in one song.
-If you like the song selection from today you should consider subscribing to Ferry Corsten (Corsten’s Countdown), Tiesto‘s (Club Life), Armin Van Buuren (A State of Trance) podcasts on iTunes
Kaskade & Tiesto feat. Haley – Only You (Kaskade Remix) House
Markus Schulz ft. Khaz – Dark Heart Waiting (Jochen Miller Remix) Trance
DJ Mog feat. Sarah Lynn – Somewhere (Extended Mix) House
68 Beats ft. Lizzie Curious – Set Me Free (Chris Moody Mix) or (George Acosta Mix) Progressive House
Omnia & The Blizzard feat. Susana – Closer (Original Mix) Trance
Darren Bailie – Silence (Marc Lime K Bastian Club Mix) Electro House
To the beat of your heart
Music expresses feeling and thought, without language; it was below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words. ~Robert G. Ingersoll
Sometimes it’s about letting go…not thinking, not analyzing, & definitely not being so serious. (Common, we all need that once in a while) 🙂 With that said, the list for today hardly needs an introduction. The songs are all relatively new releases, they’re club bangers, & trust me – you will love them… so enjoy!
Sebastien Drums & Avicii – My Feelings For You (Digital Lab Remix)

Andale, Andale

My favorite time of year is quickly approaching (yes it’s Summer)… even though it isn’t considered to begin until the 20/21st of June, warm weather & sunny days are getting me in the mood for summer tunes. While I can’t be in Europe just yet for vacation, I CAN pretend I’m sitting on a tropical beach sipping on some sangria, listening to my Latin House music! I’m DJ’ing an event on May 23rd called Bosphorus on the Pacific Summer Nights Cruise/Dinner in Newport Beach & have already started compiling a playlist of the newest hits from overseas. One album that I just downloaded, Suat Atesdagli’s Blackk, is full of middle eastern and spanish inspired tunes. I will also most likely be playing songs from all the Bosphorus Nights compilations, Chill Out Istanbul 2009, the Cafe Archy Lounge Collection, and more!
**Stereo Palma – Andale (Nicola Fasano, Steve Forest South Beach Mix)
Otherview – So Long (Rivaz Club Mix) This one was definitely inspired by Edward Maya’s Stereo Love from last year!
Wawa ft. Fabal – Sombrita (Wawa Club Mix)
Italian Disco Mafia – Italiano
Yolanda Be Cool – We No Speak Americano (yes I featured this one my most recent mix & in another post. It just made the top 10 on the Beatport charts so I felt compelled to include it yet AGAIN)
Mélomane Monday: Steve Angello & AN21

Saturday night, I had the great (& very exciting) honor to hear AN21 & Steve Angello spin at Avalon in Hollywood. What an amazing experience it was to be in the presence of two very talented brother DJs. 🙂 AN21 spun till about 1am, where he turned over the floor to his big brother Steve Angello. As I was only there till 3 am, the music was unbelievable…& the nite was filled with lots of dancing OF COURSE. There’s something to be said about DJs that are truly passionate and dedicated to their work. Their love of music is easily translated to the audience & that connection between the musician and their adoring fans is genuine and untouchable. This happened last nite. The post for today will feature my favorite songs/remixes from Saturday night, as well as a couple others I felt like throwing in. If you have a chance to see Steve Angello & AN21 live, I would more than recommend doing so! All I have to say is that I’m waiting to see Swedish House Mafia do a show in LA! (If you want to see some of the videos I took on Saturday nite, go to my Youtube Channel DJDLish22.
AN21 & Steve Angello – Valodja
Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (AN21 & Max Vangelli Remix)
La Roux – Quicksand (AN21 & Philip Jensen Remix)

TV Rock ft. Rudy – Feel it in the Air (Axwell Remix)
Here are some other new hits:
John Dahlback ft. Elodie – Bingo (Extended Mix)
Krave ft. Flo-Rida, Lil Jon, Pitbull – Go Crazy (Les Boyz Electro Edit)
Save Me.

“The only way to truly Love is to let go of what you are afraid to lose and Trust that what’s meant to be will stay.”
I do have to admit, that life is a little scary sometimes. Actually, it’s REALLY scary. We have this idea of how our lives are meant to be…who should be in them, how we work, where we play… but realistically, we really have no idea. Things can be taken from us as fast as surprises can be thrown into the mix. How are we supposed to stay grounded & guided? We fight for things & people we believe in, we try each & every day to learn something new, & we eventually figure out to think with our heads & our hearts together. Sadly, life doesn’t come with a rulebook or remote control. We can’t go to Chapter 8 to read about “How to fix a broken heart” & we can’t press rewind to turn back time & fix our mistakes. But we have NOW..the present, to say the things we never said, to speak up for how we feel, to take control…so that we will hopefully live a life with minimal regrets & burned bridges. Going into the future, what we don’t know is scary, but we do know how our lives are now & no matter what, we can save ourselves & whatever else we would regret losing in the future.
Morgan Page – Fight for You (Sultan & Ned Shepard Mix)
“So what do you want and what are you thinking?/Isn’t it about time you stuck up for me?/But what you can’t see is we’re under siege/And I only fight because I believe/Not gonna share you no/I’d fight for you”
Agnes & LMFAO – Release Me (Party Rock Remix)
“I say release me /’Cause I’m not able to/Convince myself /That I’m better off without you”
David Guetta – Gettin’ Over (Sidney Samson Remix)
“Wish I could spin my world into reverse just to have you back again, there’s no gettin’ over, there’s just no gettin’ over you”
Ben Preston ft. Susie – Remember Me
“Will you remember me, like I remember you”
Moby – Wait for Me (Laidback Luke)
“I’m gonna ask you to look away/I love my hands, but it hurts to pray/Life I have isn’t what I’ve seen/The sky is not blue and the field’s not green/Wait for me”
“You know I care what’s deep inside/Any hurt you choose to hide/But you should know how I feel/You should know that I like you/I want to be openhearted/Why can’t you see/You gotta be open or we’ll never get started”
Lost & Found

Just recently, I suffered from some loss in my life… As I use this blog to post about music, I also find it important to connect the music with raw emotion…my emotions. Often times when we lose something or someone beyond our control, it seems what’s lost is irreplaceable. Other times, when we have chosen to eliminate something from our own lives, it’s not the sense of getting rid of that something that hurts, but the act of letting go and saying goodbye. From my standpoint, I am grateful for every person & every situation that has come into my life, good or bad. I have explored my emotions, I’ve learned invaluable lessons, & most of all… I’ve learned to face fear. Fear of making the right decision, fear of loss, fear of pain, fear of the unknown. This post today is very nostalgic, but also hopeful. To those we’ve lost, to those we’ve loved, to those we’ve yet to meet on this journey. Every day is an adventure, every day may not be perfect, but every day is a new chance to find yourself and to no longer feel lost.
Bomb the Bass – Black River (Gui Boratto Mix)
“I don’t know what I’ve done Or if I like what I’ve begun But something told me to run And honey you know me it’s all or none
There were sounds in my head LIttle voices whispering That I should go and this should end Oh and I found myself listening
See I thought love was black and white That it was wrong or it was right But you ain’t leaving without a fight And I think I am just as torn inside
‘Cos I dont know who I am, who I am without you All I know is that I should”
To the Beat, With Love…xoxo

WMC & Ultra Music Festival 2010 Recap
Not really sure where to start for this one! I spent 5 days and 4 nights in Miami to experience the one and only WMC. I stayed at the Eden Roc hotel, which was the sponsored hotel for the WMC events. I have to say, coming downstairs every morning to a DJ spinning in the lobby was pretty nice! That evening, I went to LIV at Fountainbleu where Laidback Luke was performing. This is probably one of my new favorite clubs! The club was PACKED. After leaving LIV, I went to Space to check it out and meet up with Rachael Starr who was spinning that evening. Thursday I went to Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Party at Nikki Beach…minus the $80 entrance fee & $30 beach towels (yes I’m serious), the music was worth the money; however, I’ve come to call this Nikki Sand, seeing as though the beach has been fenced OFF and you can’t even see the ocean. 😦
I got to stand directly to the right of Robbie Rivera during his set & even got a free Juicy Beach Robbie t-shirt! After getting back to the hotel around 8pm (already exhausted) I was put to sleep by the beats of Steve Angello dj’ing at the Eden Roc pool party. That evening it was back to LIV. Along with Friday and an obscene amount of rain & the Circoloco party at Eden Roc (not too impressive). The first day of Ultra was finally here.

Tiesto at UMF

David Guetta at UMF
As I entered Ultra Music Festival, I was not only given a super cool VIP wristband, but an Ultra mini backpack full of dj mags, cds, and of course the Ultra Tshirt! Excited and giddy, I went straight to the VIP section for the main stage. Even though VIP was shockingly small (considering how many people went to the event and bought VIP), the airconditioned “lounge” downstairs and upstairs balcony provided great service and views of the stage. After I watched LMFAO perform, it was time to get some food – this is when all hell broke loose. When I returned from the VIP section after eating, they refused me entrance. The police, fire marshalls, and security guards had blocked off VIP (where I left my sister and friend) and were not letting ANYONE in or explaining the situation. As the crowd for VIP grew tremendously (prob 100 ppl waiting to get into VIP), I sadly and angrily watched the amazing David Guetta perform. Amidst being pushed, having drinks poured on me, & having someone almost steal my camera, the David Guetta performance was extremely memorable. His light show/effects paired with his warming ability to speak genuinely and openly with the crowd (Oh and Will.I.Am – they debuted the new Gettin Over remix with Fergie) were the cherry on top of his music. The rest of the evening I enjoyed Afrojack (well only heard this one because I was getting crushed in the herd of angry VIPS), Wolfgang Gardner, and Tiesto! Adventures after Ultra did not stop, as my friends and I walked 2 hours to get a cab that was willing to drive us to our hotel!

Swedish House Mafia at UMF

Deadmau5 at UMF
Saturday was definitely a much better day overall, the weather was beautiful and I was able to enjoy the beach! Expecting the worst as I returned to Ultra, I was ready for ANYTHING! Luckily, drama was minimal that evening. On the main Ultra Stage I was able to watch the very excited and giddy Armin Van Buuren (he definitely danced more than I did), Swedish House Mafia, & Deadmau5. Swedish House Mafia pleasantly surprised me and I am now a loyal fan! The trip ended with bad weather (Welcome to Florida) & a signature from Deadmau5 himself before we all boarded the plane together! Overall, the trip definitely had its ups and downs, but was worth it. These djs are extremely talented, they value and appreciate their fans, and most importantly you can tell they LOVE what they do to the core.
I’m not sure I’ll be attending another WMC (my wallet votes No), but I’m glad to have went and experienced the magic of music!
