I always love finding out that some of my favorite DJs are trying new things in the digital space. Tiesto – while at the forefront of his career and his genre, is also helping pioneer the social sphere this year at the CES conference in Vegas. This coming Wednesday January 11th at 10pm PT – Tiesto will play a live 90 minute set that HP/Intel will stream LIVE on Twitter. This is the first “concert” of its type on Twitter and will not only be looped for over 48 hours, but will also allow users to interact and engage with each other during the live stream. I think this is a unique opportunity for HP/Intel to test out Twitter’s new brand pages and for Tiesto to enlarge his social influence and music sharing capabilities online.

Sorry I’ve been a little MIA recently, but with a full-time job on my hands (which I am definitely NOT complaining about), it is a little more difficult to continuously post! For those house, progressive, electronic, and trance music lovers anxiously awaiting one of the biggest national music festivals, the week of the Electric Daisy Carnival is upon us! Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26 the Colliseum in downtown Los Angeles will be exploding with 5 stages, carnival rides, food, people dressed up in what I like to call “Halloween-like” costumes (yeah – you know why), and most importantly – some of the most prominent and talented DJs in the world. Last year’s EDC was definitely an experience to be had (I still can’t get over people’s outfits – or should I say costumes). Luckily for my group of friends, we had purchased VIP tickets and didn’t have to be crushed in a sea of crazies. I had such an amazing time last year and still have my souvenir “MUSIC IS MY DRUG” t-shirt! I can’t wait until Friday!

This week I was inspired by this quote: “When u are in touch with your authentic self, life flows easily, u meet challenges with courage & prosper in ways u never thought u could.” As my DJ career has grown immensely in the past 2 months, I’ve come to realize the importance of being genuine and staying true to who I am. As most of us know, life is an unexpected adventure every single day and in order to make sense of that journey and to grow, love, and be happy – you must let go and just be yourself. I wanted to say thank you again to my friends, family, and fans that have fully supported me and my DJ’ing by coming to all my events. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
Here we go! It was another insanely busy but EXTREMELY fun weekend for me! Here’s the recap…
Thursday night I DJ’d the Bosphorus Nights 1st Summer Black and White Party! I have to start out by saying this was probably the most professionally organized and executed event I have ever DJ’d for. The party was held at Les Deux nightclub in Hollywood, CA. I had the honor of being filmed and interviewed for Turkish tv (TRT) as well! I spoke about my DJ career, my preparation for parties, and what type of music I would be playing that night. I was also filmed DJ’ing throughout the night, which was a little intimidating at first, but turned out to be a lot of fun (especially as they filmed me dancing to one of my favorite songs)! I believe around 200 people attended the club Thursday night and let me tell you – these people knew how to party AND how to dance! As the crowd was very happy about the Lakers becoming National Champions, they were even happier when I played LMFAO’s Shots – the Laker version! I ended up turning off my music a little past 2am….hello exhaustion! … it was worth it though. Thank you to Baris Avsar for organizing an outstanding event that will hopefully continue in the very near future!

Saturday I DJ’d my sister’s 23rd Birthday Pool Party at our home in Beverly Hills. SO.MUCH.FUN! Where do I begin… well after eating a delicious feast of Mexican food (tamales, tacos, & more) – the next stop was THE OPEN BAR. With an excessive abundance of all different types of alcohol (predominantly tequila), the bar was constantly packed with people ordering drinks and shots! (The drinks were also creatively named… for example – a margarita was called the NO WAY JOSE) Down by the pool were cocktail tables with beautiful centerpieces… and of course…. to the side of the pool was THE DJ BOOTH! Luckily because this party was my sister’s and we have just about the exact same taste in music, the playlist was NOT a problem and literally a dream come true (or should I say a house music dream?). Overall, minus being thrown into the pool a grand 3 times, I had a lot of fun with family and friends!

It was another D’Lish-ous weekend! I DJ’d a private birthday party on Saturday night in Beverly Hills that was a lot of fun. With a “pink” theme that included pink martini glasses, pink candles, & pink balloons, my pink computer case & laptop stand fit in perfectly.
Taking place in the backyard of the birthday girl’s house, the party was most definitely a hit for the crowd that included about 100 guests – especially the Casino games (because really, who doesn’t like to gamble)? I literally played everything that night: Jay-Z, Bitter:sweet, Lady Gaga, David Guetta, BEP, Kaskade, Usher, La Roux, Marina & the Diamonds, & more.

And guess what? It will be a D’lish-ous week as well! This coming Thursday the 17th I will be DJ’ing for the first time at the hotspot club Les Deux in Hollywood! As someone who doesn’t traditionally DJ at clubs (more so private parties & events), I am beyond excited and so happy that I’ve been given this opportunity. I’ve been preparing an extensive and ecclectic playlist for the past week and am READY TO ROCK!

My favorite time of year is quickly approaching (yes it’s Summer)… even though it isn’t considered to begin until the 20/21st of June, warm weather & sunny days are getting me in the mood for summer tunes. While I can’t be in Europe just yet for vacation, I CAN pretend I’m sitting on a tropical beach sipping on some sangria, listening to my Latin House music! I’m DJ’ing an event on May 23rd called Bosphorus on the Pacific Summer Nights Cruise/Dinner in Newport Beach & have already started compiling a playlist of the newest hits from overseas. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day everyone! Unfortunately, I can’t say “Kiss Me I’m Irish!” but I can say “Kiss Me…bc I’m the DJ” 🙂 In light of all the drinking festivities going on tonite (or for those ambitious ones… could be during the day), I have elected to post music about DRINKING! Whether you’re sipping on green beer at an Irish Pub, decadently dressed in GREEN so that you won’t get pinched, or feeling brave and doing an Irish jig, I wish you a Happy & Safe drinking extravaganza and hope you will throw these songs on to your ipod for some music that will get you in the mood!
In case you DIDN’T know the story:
Legend St Patrick’s Day is held on 17 March, which is believed to be the day he died. Patrick was captured by Irish raiders from his home in Wales and reputedly herded sheep on the slopes of Slemish in County Antrim during his captivity. He managed to make his way home after six years, but later returned to Ireland with a mission to convert the Irish to Christianity.
Legend has it that he used the shamrock to teach the concept of the Holy Trinity and banished snakes from the island. It is unlikely there ever were any snakes in Ireland, but the snake story may be a reference to serpent, a symbol of evil, and the driving out a reference to Patrick’s mission to rid Ireland of pagan influence.

It was a Valentine’s party to remember. For all those couples and singles that attended the Valentine’s Eve Mansion Ball in Bel Air on Saturday night, the evening was filled with lots of love and might I add… music and dancing. From sipping champagne in the main house, guests were then lead to a beautifully lit Valentine’s themed courtyard. They were then directed into a decadent, red-infused ballroom with a giant checkered dancefloor and stage.
As guests entered the lavish room complete with roped off VIP areas and a fully stocked open bar, Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got the Love” and Shwayze’s “Heart and Soul” warmly greeted the crowd. My dj setup was located directly beneath a cozy arch, where I was constantly joined by as what I like to call: DJ D’Lish’s favorite groupies (Definitely had some additions that nite)
As the night progressed, I played a variety of genres…lots of new Timbaland remixes, David Guetta, Pitbull, Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Ke$sha, Bob Sinclar, and of course the fabulous Lady Gaga. Coordinating the playlist for this event was somewhat challenging as I wanted to include a little something for everyone. To my surprise, a majority of people repeatedly came up to the DJ booth to request House and Electronica songs and and artists, which of course made me very happy!
As the crowd started winding down at a very EARLY 2:30 am, they danced to Young Money’s Bedrock and Drake’s Best I ever Had. To end the night (and to get home at a decent hour) I closed with some of my personal favorite classic love songs: Unchained Melody and Fool’s Rush In. Definitely brought back memories of high school slow dancing!
Overall, this was a very successful event. I couldn’t have done it without the D’Lish groupies for support and constant dancing!
